Six High School Students Hospitalized after Car Crash


According to WFAA, two pickup trucks driven by high school students crashed into each other, sending six of the student occupants to the hospital in Cleburne, Texas, on Thursday morning.

Teens Admit “Horse playing” on the Road

The students involved in the crash were on their way to get wood pallets for the Cleburne High School homecoming bonfire scheduled later that night.

On their way, at around 9:15 a.m. off of FM 1434, one of the pickup trucks passed the other truck in a no-passing zone and was summarily hit from behind. According to WFAA, the collision sent both trucks off the road, one of which hit a concrete drain and rolled over.

Six of the seven students in the two vehicles were sent to Texas Harris Methodist Hospital. According to WFAA, the status of the students’ injuries are unknown.

The 17-year-old driver of the pickup truck that made the illegal pass was cited, reports WFAA.

  • Fatalities in rural crashes decreased by 5.8 percent from 2013 to 2014, while those in urban crashes increased by 2.4 percent.
  • People killed in roadway departure crashes decreased by 2.8 percent in 2014.
