Suspected Drunk Driver Causes Massive Wrong-way Crash, Injuring Two

According to The Mercury News, two people sustain serious injuries after a crash caused by an alleged drunk driver traveling the wrong way in San Jose, California, on Wednesday morning.

Details of Injury Accident

The major wreck occurred at around 3:32 a.m. local time on Interstate 280 near downtown San Jose. A woman in a Volkswagen car was driving north in the southbound lanes when she struck a Chevy Aveo head-on near Bird Avenue.

The impact of the collision caused the Aveo to flip onto its roof and into the center concrete median, according to The Mercury News. The Volkswagen ended up in the middle lane of the southbound lanes before being hit by a car. The female driver of the Aveo suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

According to The Mercury News, the wrong-way driver suffered from injuries as well and was taken to the hospital. She is also expected to survive her injuries. In addition, the wrong-way driver is suspected of driving under the influence and is expected to be arrested following her release from the hospital.

The driver of the third car was uninjured in the crash, reports The Mercury News.
