Technician for Cirque du Soleil Killed in Pre-show Industrial Accident

According to multiple media outlets, an employee for Cirque du Soleil died in an industrial accident while setting up for the “Luzia” show in San Francisco on Tuesday night.

California OSHA Investigating Fatal Injury Accident

A man was assisting with the pre-set preparations for a show scheduled for Tuesday night when the fatal accident occurred. Cirque du Soleil officials said the worker, a technician for the show, was struck by a lift.

The man was taken to a hospital where he would later succumb to his injuries, reports media outlets. No other information regarding the cause or circumstances of the workplace accident is known at this time.

Police say the San Francisco Police Department Traffic Collision Investigation Unit as well as Cal/OSHA officials are investigating the incident. The Cirque du Soleil show was canceled on Tuesday night, according to multiple media sources.
