According to KXAN, a 15-year-old pedestrian dies after being hit by a truck while walking along the side of a road in Kyle, Texas, on Monday evening.

Road Poorly Lit, High Speed Limit

Michael Mince, 15, left a gas station at the corner of FM 2001 and State Highway 21 when the accident occurred. Mince started to walk westbound along FM 2001 when he was struck by a vehicle heading in the same direction. Officials say the driver of the Dodge pickup truck drove from the scene after the collision.

Mince died from injuries sustained in the crash, reports KXAN. Officials have not released the color of the vehicle suspected in the fatal pedestrian accident, only that it has front-end damage and is a Dodge pickup.

KXAN reports that neighbors have complained about the dimly lit street and posted speed limit of 60 mph on FM 2001 in the past. Residents in the neighborhood say the road does not have a sufficient enough shoulder either.

Mince, a sophomore at Lehman High School, was the second student to pass away this week, according to KXAN. A freshman at Lehman High, Joshua Gregoria Marquez, died from an accident on Christmas Eve.
