A faculty member from Texas A&M University that was involved in an accident on Friday morning has passed away.
38-year-old Dr. Josie Coverdale, of Bryan, died on Saturday afternoon, according to a news release from the College Station police department.
Dr. Coverdale was a faculty member of the Department of Animal Sciences at Texas A&M University and was a native of Krum, Texas.
Police in College Station say the Dr. Coverdale was involved in an accident at around 7:41 a.m. on Friday near the intersection of Harvey Mitchell parkway and Raymond Stotzer.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a Ford Explorer being driven by 25-year-old Tucker Ford, of College Station, was heading north on Harvey Mitchell attempting to make a left turn onto Raymond Stotzer.
The 2011 Ford Fusion being driven by Dr. Coverdale was heading south on Harvey Mitchell when the Explorer did not yield the right of way and turned in front of her.
According to the College Station police department, the accident currently remains under investigation.
