Three Adults, Five Children Injured in Baton Rouge Trucking Accident

Authorities are investigating an 18-wheeler crash that left five children and three adults injured Tuesday night.

About the Baton Rouge Trucking Accident

According to The Advocate, the crash occurred along Interstate 110 near Hollywood Street at around 8:30 pm.

All eight of the individuals were transported to a Baton Rouge hospital. Fortunately, none of their injuries were considered life-threatening.

Preliminary reports suggest the 18-wheeler struck the passenger vehicle from behind. The truck driver alleged the vehicle was driving recklessly prior to the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

  • These crashes resulted in 3,903 deaths and 111,000 injuries.
  • Of those killed:

    • 73 percent were occupants of other vehicles
    • 10 percent were nonoccupants
  • 80 people were killed in trucking accidents in Louisiana in 2014.
