Officials say the rollover accident occurred at around noon on Interstate 80 nearly the Waverly exit. A tractor-trailer was traveling eastbound on the interstate when it drove through the median and entered the eastbound lanes. The semi struck a vehicle traveling east before flipping over into a roadside ditch.
KOLN reports that Robert Harlan, 78, and his wife Joan Harlan, 78, from Atlantic, Iowa, were occupants in the SUV. They were taken to Bryan West for treatment of critical injuries. The driver of the semi, 45-year-old Princewill Dabrinze, was also taken to Bryan West in fair condition.
Officials say weather could have played a role in the trucking accident, but the investigation is ongoing.
