Three Injured in Crash that Split Car in Half

According to ABC 7 NY, a massive two-vehicle crash left three people injured on Friday night in Long Island, New York.

Driver Faces Several Charges

Police say a man in a Mercedes Benz convertible was speeding eastbound on Merrick Road when the accident occurred. The man in the Mercedes crashed into another vehicle, a Mazda Miata, at Oceanside Road, according to ABC 7.

The force of the crash split the Mazda Miata in half and sent one of the car’s rear tires caroming off a parked semi-truck.

According to ABC 7, the Mercedes flipped over and came to a stop after striking a utility pole. The driver of the Mercedes, Dustin B. Brandon, and his passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Police arrested and charged Brandon, 27, with DWI, reckless driving, and reckless endangerment.

The driver of the Mazda sustained internal injuries and is being treated at a nearby hospital.
