Three Killed in Waco Trucking Accident

Waco Police have confirmed that three people were killed in a multi-vehicle accident involving an 18-wheeler Tuesday afternoon.

Details of the Fatal 18-Wheeler Crash

The crash occurred around 2 pm Tuesday on I-35 near Spur 396 when witnesses say an 18-wheeler slammed into two cars and another semi as they were slowing for traffic. The crash resulted in an explosion and the vehicles were engulfed in flames.

WFAA reports that among those killed were a female driver and a “child or pre-teen” in one of the two passenger vehicles. The third decedent was one of the truck drivers. All were pronounced dead at the scene.

The southbound lanes of the interstate remained closed for about 2 hours, and the northbound lanes were expected to stay closed into Wednesday morning.

The crash remains under investigation.
