According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, three children were injured in a crash involving three vehicles on their way to school in Commerce, Georgia, on Thursday morning.

Crash Occurred Less than Two Miles from Schools

The accident occurred at the intersection of U.S. Highway 441 and Hoods Mill Road at around 7:25 a.m. local time. Witnesses say a white car with an adult male and three children driving on Hoods Mill attempted to cross the highway when they were struck by a truck.

The impact of the collision caused the pickup truck to flip onto its side before being hit by another vehicle, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The three children in the white car were hospitalized with serious injuries – two were airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital and the third was transported to Athens Regional Hospital.

One of the victims was a 3rd grader, and the other two were 15-year-old sophomores, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. It is unclear if any other people involved sustained injuries in the crash. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash.
