Toddler Injured in Hardin County Head-On Collision

A 2-year-old was hospitalized with head injuries following a head-on collision on FM 770 near Saratoga. Driver fatigue is thought to be a factor.

About the Hardin County Head-On Collision

KFDM reports that the crash occurred around 7:30 am Thursday when a Dodge pickup drifted into oncoming traffic and struck a Mitsubishi. A Dodge Durango behind the pickup was able to avoid the collision, but struck a tree after traveling off the roadway.

The driver of the pickup, 63-year-old Billy Ray Briscoe, and the driver of the Mitsubishi, 24-year-old Cody Norman, were taken to St. Elizabeth hospital. A 2-year-old passenger in the Mitsubishi was also transported to St. Elizabeth with head injuries, but she was later moved to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.

Authorities say the child was properly secured, but the crash impact was to the rear passenger door when the child’s cars seat was installed.

Police believe the driver of the pickup fell asleep behind the wheel leading to the accident. It is unclear if the driver of the Durango was injured in the crash.
