A tour bus and big rig, without a trailer, were traveling southbound on Interstate 15 near Railroad Canyon Road when the injury accident occurred. Officials say a traffic slowdown near the Diamond Drive off-ramp caused the semi driver to lose control of his vehicle.
The semi driver broke too quickly, causing the truck to swerve into the rear of the tour bus, reports the Lake Elsinore Patch. The collision caused both vehicles to slam into the center dividing wall on the highway. The tour bus was mostly empty at the time of the accident with only three people still on board.
One person on the bus was injured in the crash, according to the Lake Elsinore Patch. The driver of the semi was uninjured in the wreck. Officials say another crash occurred shortly after, roughly 1,000 feet behind the incident, which sent a woman to the hospital with minor injuries.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 3,903 people were killed in crashes involving large trucks in 2014. In addition,
