Tractor-Trailer Crashes into School Bus, Injuring a Dozen Students

According to The Herald-Times, a school bus full of students was hit by an 18-wheeler, causing over a dozen injuries in Freedom, Indiana, on Monday morning.

About the Tractor-trailer Crash

The semi crash occurred at around 8 a.m. local time on U.S. 231 near Dunn Road. A school bus carrying 31 students was traveling northbound when it was struck by a tractor-trailer that crossed over the center dividing line.

The bus was struck on the driver’s front side, causing it to crash off the roadway, reports The Herald-Times. Twelve of the students on board were transported to local hospitals for various injuries, including cuts from broken glass and head pain. The 70-year-old bus driver sustained hand and head injuries in the crash and was taken to Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.

The Herald-Times reports that the remaining students were taken to their respective schools and observed by school nurses. The semi-truck driver was cited for driving left of center and driving too fast for road conditions.
