Truck Driver Charged in Crash that Killed Williamston Woman

Chad Henderson, 50, of Layton, Utah has been charged with aggravated homicide by vehicle and aggravated assault and battery following a Rawlins trucking accident that left a woman dead and a man injured.

Truck Driver Was Reaching for Candy When Crash Occurred

According to WYFF, the crash occurred Sunday on Interstate 80 in south-central Wyoming.

Ashley Michelle Mathews, 26, and Christopher Albert Burton, 30, were stopped on the shoulder of the interstate due problems with their pickup. Their vehicle was then struck from behind by an 18-wheeler driven by Henderson.

Mathews died from her injuries on Monday, and Burton suffered a fractured vertebra.

Henderson told authorities that he took his eyes of the road to reach for a piece of candy, and drifted onto the shoulder. He was charged Wednesday with aggravated homicide by vehicle and aggravated assault and battery.
