Brian Harrell of Elizabeth City is charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and failure to reduce speed in connection with a deadly accident that occurred Wednesday in Ernul, North Carolina.
About the Elizabeth City Trucking Accident
According WITN, Brian Harrell’s 1995 Freightliner was headed northbound on U.S. 17 when three vehicles slowed down as one moved to make a left turn.
Harrell’s 18-wheeler failed to slow down and slammed into the back of an SUV. This collision pushed a smaller car in front of an oncoming tractor-trailer. That collision then careened the small car back in front of Harrell’s semi.
Troopers say at least the two front wheels of Harrell’s semi went over the hood of that car, a Terminix company vehicle. The driver of the Terminix car, Jacob Majarro, was killed. His passenger, Phillip Cordoya was airlifted and is in life-threatening condition at Vidant Medical Center.
Troopers are continuing to investigate.
