18-Wheeler Strikes, Kills Man Pushing Disabled Car on Shoulder
According to Fox 61, a man sustained fatal injuries after a semi-truck crashes into him while pushing his car on the interstate shoulder in Greenwich, Connecticut, on Saturday afternoon.
Officials Investigating Fatal Accident
Carlos Coyt-Orozco and his passenger David Espinoza pushed the vehicle on the right shoulder of southbound Interstate 95 at around 4:20 p.m. local time after it ran out of gas. Coyt-Orozco stood near the driver’s side door as he attempted to steer the vehicle as Espinoza pushed from behind.
Officials say the tractor-trailer driver drifted into the shoulder, striking and killing Coyt-Orozco, reports Fox 61. The semi driver, John Hoffman, says the sun glare blinded him as he took a curve in the interstate. Following the collision, Hoffman pulled over and cooperated with officials.
Coyt-Orozco received treatment at Westchester County Medical Center before succumbing to his injuries, according to Fox 61.
