About the Fatal Trucking Accident

On Monday afternoon, State Police said that three Kentwood residents died in a collision between a pickup truck and an 18-wheeler.

The driver of the pickup truck, Kaleb Collette, was headed southbound on U.S. 51 when traffic was slowing to a stop. However, Collette failed to stop and crashed into the back of a tractor trailer.

An investigation is trying to determine why Collette did not stop his vehicle, and the Louisiana State Crime Lab will analyze blood samples of the victims for toxicology reports.

None of the victims were wearing a seatbelt.
