A fatal driving accident involving a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck killed an Austin Resource Recovery employee on Tuesday, as reported by KXAN Austin News.
About the Fatal Trucking Accident
Several news outlets are reporting that Ernest Gonzales, an Austin Resource Recovery employee, was driving a Ford F150 pickup truck northbound when he swerved into the southbound lane and hit the 18-wheeler head on.
The crash occurred around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. Gonzales is reported to have died at the scene. The driver of the 18-wheeler only sustained minor injuries.
KXAN Austin News reports that the accident occurred on FM 973 just north of Highway 71. The road was closed for seven hours while crews cleared the scene of the crash.
According to an article on KEYE TV News, Ernest Gonzales was a 22-year veteran of the Austin Resource Recovery Department.
