Houston Truck Driver Causes T-bone Crash – Elderly Woman Dead

An elderly woman is dead after a three-vehicle crash Monday on the Northwest Freeway feeder road, police said.

About the Crash in Northwest Houston

The driver of a ReadyRefresh refillable water truck was heading north when he ran a red light and slammed into the right side of a silver GMC pickup truck around 11:40 a.m. on Monday, police said.

The incident took place at the intersection of Gessner Road and the Northwest Freeway in Humble, Texas.

A gold Toyota passenger car was also hit in the incident, but police have reported no injuries from its wreck.

No one has been charged with the crash, but the investigation is still ongoing, police said.

Injuries and One Death Reported

After the crash, wrecker drivers pulled the water truck away from the pickup, allowing firefighters to access and remove victims in the mangled pickup.

Firefighters extricated the drivers of both the pickup and the water truck. Police said the driver of the pickup truck suffered life-threatening injuries, but the driver of the water truck is expected to be okay.

Firefighters also removed a 79-year-old woman from the passenger side of the pickup truck. She was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
