San Antonio Man Killed in Collision with 18-Wheeler

One man is dead following a trucking accident in San Antonio on the southwest side of the city on Monday.

Details about the Fatal 18-Wheeler Accident

News 4 San Antonio is reporting that the tractor-trailer accident happened at about 2 p.m. on Monday afternoon on the 8400 block of New Laredo Highway.

According to police, the driver of a Chevy Suburban tried to turn in front of an 18-wheeler that was heading north. Even though the 18-wheeler tried to avoid hitting the Suburban, they nearly collided head-on. The 18-wheeler then rolled onto the side of the highway.

The victim has been identified by the police as 30-year-old Gilberto Beltran. The victim was taken to University Hospital where he later died from the injuries he suffered in the accident.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured in the accident, and, at this time, no criminal charges are expected to be filed against the driver.
