Woman Killed, Teen Son Injured in Crash with Tractor-Trailer

According to San Angelo Live, a woman was killed and her son was injured in a crash with a tractor-trailer in Midland, Texas, on Saturday morning.

Details of Fatal Trucking Wreck

The fatal accident occurred on Texas Highway 158 just 12 miles east of Midland shortly after midnight. Rose Mary Contreras, 43, and her 16-year-old son, Josiah, were heading west on Highway 158 toward Midland in a Mazda SUV when they were hit by a semi driving eastbound.

San Angelo Live reports that the semi-truck was driving at an unsafe speed for the wet and rainy weather conditions. The semi hydroplaned into the westbound lanes where it smashed into the Contreras’ SUV.

Rose Mary Contreras was pronounced dead at the scene, according to San Angelo Live. Her son was severely injured in the crash.
