A man in a white SUV was driving at high speeds as he weaved around traffic on FM 1960 in Huffman at approximately 7:00 p.m. Officials say the man lost control of his vehicle into oncoming traffic. The SUV slammed into two vehicles, including a Mazda car and a Dodge SUV. The Dodge SUV carried a family of five, including an adult man and woman, two girls and a boy.
A seven-year-old and 14-year-old girl in the SUV were transported to a hospital where they later succumbed to their injuries, reports the Houston Chronicle. A teenage boy and the two parents in the SUV were also hospitalized in serious but stable condition.
According to the Houston Chronicle, the driver of the Mazda was transported to the hospital in serious but stable condition as well. The driver of the white SUV did not sustain injuries in the crash.
Police arrested the driver, who is being investigated for drunk driving. The two fatalities in this wreck mark the second double-fatality motor vehicle accident in as many days in Houston, reports the Houston Chronicle.
