Two Pedestrians Struck, Injured by Hit-and-run Driver

According to NBC 7, two pedestrians crossing the street in San Diego were hit by a car, sustaining serious injuries on Sunday night.

Details of Hit-and-run Pedestrian Crash

Two men were walking on Sports Arena Boulevard near Rosecrans Street at around 10:00 p.m. local time when the accident occurred. The pedestrians were struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Sports Arena Boulevard. Following the collision, the driver of the car took off from the scene. Police say the men were inside a designated crosswalk when they were hit.

One of the victims was dragged approximately 800 feet by the car, reports NBC 7. The man, who police described as a 24-year-old, sustained a fractured pelvis and other injuries. The two men were transported to UCSD Hospital.

Hours after the pedestrian crash, police were able to track down the vehicle involved. NBC 7 reports that officials attempted to pull a car over at around 1:00 a.m., but it evaded police and eventually crashed into a parked car in an alley. Police arrested the driver, 21-year-old Yosvaldo Sixco, and charged him with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.
