Details of the School Bus Crash

According to KMOV, a Lawtey, Florida school bus carrying 15 students was slowing to a stop when it was struck from behind by a large truck on September 29, 2014.

In court proceedings, the court was shown footage captured with a camera inside the bus. The video showed the impact of the collision and students being tossed violently from their seats as a result of the impact. The crash left seven students injured, including one who suffered an open skull fracture.

The driver of the truck, Shannon Ford, was sentenced to 20 years for the crash – five years each for four counts of reckless driving. Police reports indicated that Ford’s wife was found naked in the truck’s cab following the accident. She told authorities that she had removed most of her clothing because it was hot in the cab and that the crash had torn her underwear off.
