Warfarin Test Strips Recalled – Inaccurate Results
Terrific Care/Medex Supply LLC has recalled certain test strips used with CoaguChek test systems.
About the Test Strip Recall
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reports that certain test strips for use with CoaguChek meters provide inaccurate blood test results. This can cause consumers to administer the blood thinner warfarin in incorrect amounts, increasing the risk of blood clots.
Roche Diagnostics, the manufacturer of CoaguChek, has already recalled more than a million packages of test strips. This announcement expands the recall to include strips sold by Terrific Care/Medex Supply.
The FDA recommends consumers immediately stop using the affected strips, report any test meter problems, and use another test method.
Description of Recalled Test Strips
The following information was provided by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA):
- The recall applies to CoaguChek XS PT Test Strips.
- The product is used with the CoaguChek XS Plus, CoaguChek XS Pro, CoaguChek XS PST, and CoaguChek Vantus test meters.
- The recelled test strips were distributed by Terrific Care/Medex Supply, and come in a white box.
