Whirlpool Recalls KitchenAid Electric Kettles for Burn Hazard

Whirlpool has issued a recall for more than 87,500 KitchenAid Electric Kettles following reports of broken handles and burn injuries.

About the KitchenAid Electric Kettle Recall

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the handles on the kettles can loosen and separate, causing hot liquid to spill. So far, Whirlpool has received 79 reports of handles separating in the U.S. and 19 reports of handles separating in Canada.

Reports suggest the defect has resulted in at least four burn injuries.

Consumers are urged to stop using the defective kettles immediately and to contact Whirlpool for a free replacement.

Defective kettles were sold through Bed Bath & Beyond, Dillard’s, Fry’s Electronics, Kitchen Kaboodle, Kohl’s, Navy Exchange, Target, Williams Sonoma, and Amazon.com from September 2013 through February 2018 for about $100 to $120.

About 40,200 units were sold in the United States and 47,300 units were sold in Canada.
