Driver Didn’t Know He Struck Her, says Police

Barbara Clement, a town constable and well-known figure in Milford, was crossing Main Street on Thursday afternoon when police say she stepped into the path of truck and noticed it too late.

Surveillance cameras captured the collision and showed the tractor-trailer continue to drive after striking and killing Clement. According to WCVB, police believe the driver didn’t know he had struck and killed Clement.

The driver found out about the incident after a friend called him and said the police were looking for him and his truck. He then turned himself in to Middleboro police, WCVB reports.

No charges have been filed against the driver, and he is cooperating with the investigation, says police. WCVB has reported that the driver’s license has been revoked.
