According to the Livingston Daily, a woman died from injuries sustained in an intersection collision in Tyrone Township, Michigan, on Tuesday morning.

Both Drivers Wore Seatbelts During Wreck

The 74-year-old woman traveled north on U.S. Highway 23 at around 9:35 a.m. near White Lake Road when the accident occurred. An SUV driving east on White Lake Road collided with her car at the intersection, sending the car into a roadside ditch.

The Livingston Daily reports that the elderly woman died at the scene of the crash. The 50-year-old man driving the SUV received treatment at Genesys Hospital in Flint for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say alcohol and speed do not appear to have played a role in the fatal accident. Early results from the investigation show the woman stopped at the stop sign and proceeded through before the SUV slammed into her.

The intersection closed for several hours as the investigation took place, according to The Livingston Daily.
