Woman, Four Children Injured after SUV Plunges off Highway into River

According to the San Antonio Express-News, five people suffered injuries, including four children, after their SUV crashes off the interstate and into the San Antonio River on Thursday morning.

Details of the Crash

Police say the driver of the SUV slammed on the brakes when approaching heavy traffic on Interstate 10 near Probandt, reports Fox 29 San Antonio. The SUV then swerved, crashing into a concrete wall before flying off the bridge.

The SUV landed in the San Antonio River upright, according to Fox 29 San Antonio. All five passengers in the vehicle wore seatbelts. The driver was a woman in her late 20s, and the children ranged in age from three to ten.

The passengers were taken to University Hospital to receive treatment. The San Antonio Express-News reports that none of the crash victims suffered from life-threatening injuries. All five occupants made it out of the vehicle by the time emergency personnel arrived.
