Woman on Moped Hospitalized after Hit-and-Run Accident

According to The Eagle, a woman on a moped was hospitalized after being struck by a pickup truck on the Texas A&M University campus.

Truck Dragged Moped for 300 Feet

Police say the driver of the pickup truck ran a red light before hitting the woman as she crossed Wellborn Road. After dragging the woman’s moped for several hundred feet, the man left his vehicle and fled the area on foot, reports The Eagle.

Only 22 minutes later, the 27-year-old man was found around a mile from the scene of the accident, according to The Eagle.

The woman was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The Eagle reports that the man was treated for minor injuries and cited for running a red light and driving without proper insurance. In addition, as the investigation is ongoing, more serious charges involving the crash and fleeing the scene may be forthcoming.
