On May 20th, 2014, a man was fatally crushed by falling rebar in an accident a construction site near the San Diego International Airport.
The name of the worker killed was just released by the medical examiner. His name was Eduardo Lopez, and he was 29 years old.
Lopez was working on a construction site on North Harbor Drive when the rebar he was working with suddenly collapsed on top of him.
It was reported that people nearby heard Lopez yelling; however, the material soon crushed him.
911 was called by nearby coworkers and emergency crews attempted to revive Lopez by performing CPR. Lopez was unable to be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.
After the accident an Airport Authority spokesperson announced that Lopez worked for Austin/Sundt Joint Venture. The joint companies are working on a rental car center for the airport.
