Worker Killed at Trucking Company after being Run Over by 18-Wheeler

According to The Free Lance-Star, a man working at a trucking company was run over and killed by a tractor-trailer while working on the truck’s brakes in Spotsylvania, Virginia, on Friday afternoon.

Details of the Fatal Workplace Accident

John Patterson, 54, discussed a mechanical problem on one of the 18-wheelers with a co-worker before the accident. The coworker left the truck running and went inside the business as Patterson went under the truck to perform maintenance.

His coworker, unaware of Patterson’s presence under the truck, returned to the truck and started to move it to another area of the parking lot, running over and killing Patterson. The workplace accident occurred at E.F. Thompson Inc., according to The Free Lance-Star.

The investigation is ongoing, but officials say preliminary reports point toward an accident. No charges have been filed, reports The Free Lance-Star.
