A report from WUKY news says a construction worker was recently killed in an accident at the University of Kentucky.
About the Fatal Construction Accident
The man, identified as Isaias Ramos, 24, was working on a construction project at the University of Kentucky when he died. Ramos was working on a dormitory complex under construction at the UK Campus.
According to reports, A wind gust of about 30mph sent a piece of plywood flying from the roof. The plywood then landed on top of Ramos who was working 60 feet below. Ramos was wearing a hard helmet at the time of the accident but sustained a serious head injury. According to a State official, an investigation of the accident found several safety violations. Two private construction companies were found liable for damages: Messer Construction was fined $6,300 and Joseph W. Bates Construction (the subcontractor on the project) for $4,900.
