Man Killed in Construction Accident in Fort Worth

WFAA reported that a man died in a construction accident in Fort Worth, Texas.

About the Fort Worth Construction Accident

The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office have said that Aldo Perez, who was 41-years-old, died at a construction site in the 9900 block of Berkshire Lake Boulevard in Fort Worth, Texas Friday morning.

The accident occurred when Perez went underneath a vehicle so that he could set it up and attach it to a tractor.  While underneath the vehicle, Perez told another person to turn on the vehicle, the vehicle then gained traction and ran over him.

The Fort Worth Fire Department and MedStar were present at the scene.

Information About Construction Fatalities

  • According to the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), in 2014 out of 4,251 worker fatalities in private industry, 20.5% of the fatalities were in construction.
  • Additionally, the leading causes of worker deaths on construction sites were falls, electrocution, struck by object, and caught-in/between.  These causes are referred to as the “Fatal Four” in construction.
  • OSHA also calculated that by eliminating deaths caused by the Fatal Four, 508 workers’ lives in America could be saved a year.
