Man Killed in Louisville Construction Accident

A Louisville man was killed Wednesday night in a construction accident at a job site in Louisville, Kentucky.

About the Louisville Construction Accident

WDRB reports that 34-year-old Antony Warner was pronounced dead at the scene after falling down an elevator shaft while on the job.

Warner was working as an electrician at a development site which will act as off-campus housing for University of Louisville students.

Campus Crest Communities has been working on the development. Once built, “The Grove” will consist of 246 units. Building is expected to be completed for next year’s fall semester.

On the Job Accident Statistics

  • Data published by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) indicates that 4,628 workers were killed on the job in 2012.
  • This averages to 89 deaths a week or more than 12 deaths every day.
  • Of those killed in workplace accidents, 4,175 were in private industry and 806 were in construction.

    • Falls
    • Struck by object
    • Electrocution
    • Caught-in/between
