On June 1st a 6-year-old boy who was playing on his trampoline was killed by a runaway pickup truck that drove into the yard and hit him.

Details About the Fatal Truck Accident

According to USA TODAY, it was in Des Moines, Iowa where a 6-year-old boy was killed while on his trampoline when a runaway pickup truck crashed into the backyard hitting the boy then dragging him with the trampoline into a ditch.

The boy was identified as Irving Aguilar Gonzalez, and the driver as Villa-Guzman. Guzman, age 44, is to be charged with vehicular homicide according to a police report as of Monday June 1st.

USA TODAY reported that a neighbor to the boy, Irving Aguilar Gonzalez, said that the boy and his mother live alone in the estate. Neither the family of the boy nor Villa-Guzman can speak English well so police translators were called to the scene.

Before crashing through the fence, Villa-Guzman hit a Toyota Highlander SUV before his pickup truck jumped a curbed then rammed the fence through two backyards. None of the occupants in the Highlander were injured.

Cause of the Accident Remains Under Investiation

According to Sergeant Jason Halifax, Des Moines police spokesman, the cause of the accident between the pickup truck and the SUV is still not known.  Dr. Gregory Schmunk, medical examiner, took photos of the pickup truck for the autopsy.

Villa-Guzman was reportedly driving with a suspended license at the time of the crash.  According to police, Villa-Guzman was also involved in an accident on October 10th, 2012 where he struck a pole with his vehicle. The cause of the crash was reported as a seizure.

At the time of the accident a 4-year-old boy identified as Javier Falcon had been near the trampoline as well and was driven to Mercy Medical center. He received no reported injuries from the accident.
