Broan-Nutone Ventilation Filters Recalled-Fire Hazard

Broan-Nutone has issued a recall for around 450 ventilation fans after it was discovered the fan motor can overheat, posing a fire hazard.

About the Recalled Broan-Nutone Fans

The Consumer Product Safety Commission stated the fans were sold in nine brands:           

  • Broan   
    • Model Numbers: L500, L500K, L500KL, L500L, S97014819, S97014820, S99080487
  • Twin City Fan
    • Model Numbers: T500, T500L
  • Carnes 
    • Model Numbers: VCDD050C, VCDD050I
  • Acme Eng and Mfg Co
    • Model Numbers: MVQL500, VQ500
  • WW Grainger    
    • Model Numbers: 1AAD3, 4TR58, 4TR59, 4YG83
  • Captive Aire      
    • Model Numbers: CFA500
  • American CoolAir
    • Model Numbers: CFL50A1151
  • Solar and Palau
    • Model Numbers: FFC500, FF500
  • American Coolair Corp.
    • Model Numbers: IL50LA1151

The fans were sold nationwide at heating, plumbing and building supply retailers for about $240. The CPSC has instructed consumers to immediately contact Broan-Nutone for a free replacement fan.
