Bus Collision Kills Four

Lilly Mashayak5 months ago

Four people were killed in an accident involving a school bus  over the holiday weekend.

Details about the Fatal School Bus Accident

Multiple sources are reporting that the driver of a decades-old school bus ran a flashing red light Saturday in the Tallahassee area and collided with a tractor-trailer, causing both vehicles to burst into flames.

Wakulla County Sheriff Charlie Creel said speed was not a factor in the early morning crash that killed four people and injured 24 others.

The 56-year-old driver of the bus, Elie Dupiche, was hospitalized in critical condition. Dupiche was driving a bus containing roughly 34 Haitian farmworkers at the time of the accident. The driver of the tractor-trailer, 55-year-old Gordon Sheets, died in the crash.

The bus was headed south on a state road, Creel said, when it collided with the tractor-trailer, which was headed west on U.S. 98.

While the roads are open again after the Saturday morning accident, residents say the intersection where the accident occurred has seen many deaths from people running the light. They say the intersection at Woodsville and Highway 98 needs to be changed to a four-way stoplight.

The Florida Highway Patrol are continuing their investigation into the cause and circumstances of the accident. Every year in the state of Florida, there are thousands of wrongful deaths of people killed in motor vehicle accidents across the state. The conditions of the other people who were hurt in the accident was not immediately available at this time.
