Bus Driver Cited in Death of Pedestrian

Monserrat Garcia, 18, was killed when she was hit by a charter bus on June 8, just 3 days before her high school graduation.

About the Portland Bus Accident

According KOIN 6 News, the family of Monserrat Gracia is claiming the bus driver who hit and killed the teenager has been cited for careless driving and failure to yield.

On June 8, Garcia was walking in the crosswalk in Portland, Oregon when she was hit by an Amtrack charter bus. The incident happened near the Greyhound bus station near NW 6th Avenue and Glisan.

The bus driver, a 68-year-old man, cooperated with investigators, and a toxicology report was administered to determine if the driver was under the influence.

The Portland Police Bureau has yet to confirm that the bus driver has been cited.
