Cancer Center Used Diluted Chemo, Old Needles
A Mississippi Cancer Center has been shut down do to unfair and unsafe health practices and three employees have been indicted on criminal charges, several news outlets are reporting.
Cancer Center Shut Down, Employees Charged
The Rose Cancer Center has been accused of watering down chemotherapy drugs used on patients, overcharging patients for more chemotherapy than they received, treating multiple patients with used needles, and charging for the use of new needles. Three individuals have been charged involving this case:
- The doctor/founder of Rose Cancer Center
- The clinic’s former office manager
- The clinic’s former billing agent
10 Patients Ill, One Dead from Used Needles
Eleven patients reportedly contracted the same bacterial infection from the clinic’s used needles. In fact, one patient who was receiving treatment for lung and brain cancer contracted HIV and died. His son filed a civil law suit on his behalf.
So far, no one had pled guilty except for the office manager, whose sentencing is set for sentencing August 6, 2012.
