CCPD Searches for Hit-and-Run Driver

Police in Corpus Christi are searching for a hit-and-run driver that struck and killed a pedestrian on Sunday.

About the Hit-and-Run Fatality

According to KIII, Earnest Stevens, 61, was fatally struck by an SUV while crossing Weber Road near Brushwood.

The driver of the SUV fled the scene and is still at large. The vehicle was last on the SPID access road. If police find the missing driver, felony charges will be faced.

Medics rushed the hit-and-run victim to the hospital, but family members report that he died about a half-hour after arriving at the hospital.

Additionally, an officer at the scene of the incident faced his own collision. Another vehicle hit his patrol car while he was securing the scene, but the officer was checked out on location and release.
