The Texas Department of Public Safety has announced that the driver who struck two teenagers as they were getting off of a school bus in Jefferson County will face charges.

Details of the Jefferson County Pedestrian Accident

According to 12 News, Glen Travis Luckey, 44, is facing multiple misdemeanor charges, including failure to drive in a single lane, operating an unregistered trailer and safety chain violations after hitting two Hamshire-Fannett ISD students as they exited a school bus.

According to police, the school bus was stopped in the right lane of Highway 73 when Luckey, driving a Dodge truck pulling a trailer, lost control of his vehicle and struck the two children as they stood in their driveway.

The children, Juan and Cecilia Olvera, ages 14 and 13, were pinned under the truck and trailer, but were eventually rescued and airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.

Luckey claims he lost control after slamming on his brakes to avoid the stopped bus. Police are still investigating and may file additional charges pending the results of the investigation.
