Chevy, GMC, and Cadillac Vehicles Recalled

Bedram Bararpour4 years ago

General Motors has issued a recall on 54,686 2013 model year Chevy, Cadillac, and GMC vehicles that were manufactured between November 7, 2012 and December 18, 2012 due to a possible steering-column defect.

Recalled Vehicles May Roll Away

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the affected vehicles could have been built with a damaged park lock cable or a defective steering column lock actuator gear (a component of the lock module assembly.) This problem means that affected vehicles could roll away after the ignition key is removed or if the driver lets go of the brake pedal after removing the key.

GM has specified that it will notify owners and order dealers to inspect and replace the steering column of affected vehicles if necessary, at no charge. The recall is projected to begin on January 17, 2013.

Recall Includes 2013 Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC Models

The following vehicles may be affected:

  • Cadillac Escalade, including Escalade ESV and Escalade EXT
  • Chevrolet Avalanche, Chevrolet Express, Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe
  • GMC Savana, GMC Sierra, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL
