Chicago Bus Crashes Resulting in One Fatality

A city bus in Chicago, Illinois crashed on June 2nd, and one person died as a result.

Details about the Fatal Chicago Bus Crash

According to ABC News, on Tuesday June 2nd, a city bus crashed with multiple cars leading to one person’s death and eight others being injured.  The fire department spokesman, Joe Roccasalva, reported that a pedestrian and the bus driver were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

ABC Station WLS in Chicago reported that the Chicago Transit Authority bus had turned off of Lake Street where it intersects with Michigan Avenue, when it collided with four cars then stopped on a pedestrian plaza.

Chicago Police have said that the bus driver has been ticketed for failing to stop at a red light and declining to implement due care.  At the time of the crash there were no passengers on the bus.

In response to the crash Michigan Avenue was shut down for two blocks in each direction from the collision.
