Child Dead, 5 Injured in Manor Crash

The Department of Public Safety is investigating a rollover accident near Manor, Texas which left a 7-year-old girl dead and several others injured Saturday afternoon.

Details of the Fatal Manor Accident

According to KVUE, the single-vehicle crash occurred around 4:20 pm in the 14000 block of FM 973.

While the accident remains under investigation, KXAN reports a Ford F-350 carrying six occupants rolled over after hydroplaning and striking the median.

7-year-old Perla Almanza sustained life-threatening injuries when she was ejected from the truck. She died shortly after arriving to Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin. She was not wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred.

Two other children, a teenager, and two adults were also seriously injured in the accident, though their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

  • There were 3,377 traffic-fatalities recorded in Texas in 2013.
  • 1,333 of these deaths were attributed to single vehicle crashes.
  • 1,883 of the recorded deaths were linked to accidents that occurred in rural areas of the state.
  • Of all people killed in auto accidents in which the use of restraints were applicable and known, 44.7 percent were not restrained when the fatal collision occurred.
