Authorities have confirmed that 4-year-old Lily Quintus was killed Wednesday after a car crashed through the wall of a day care in Orange County, Florida. 11 other children were also hurt in the accident.

About the Fatal Crash

According to an NBC affiliate, 50 people were in the KinderCare Learning Center when a black Toyota Solara crashed through the wall shortly before 3 pm.

In a statement released after the accident, the Florida Highway Patrol said that the black convertible had been forced off the road by a silver Dodge Durango and are now asking for the public’s help in locating the driver.

Authorities were able to locate the Durango in winter park, but the driver was not in the vehicle. Neighbors informed police that someone had ditched the SUV at the location and ran from the scene. Residents said they did not recognize the vehicle.

By 5:20 pm Wedneday, police named their suspect as Robert Alex Corchado, 28, and stated that Corchado had rented a black Mazda CX-5 or CX-9 SUV from a Winter Park Enterprise Wednesday evening.

Corchado now faces charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving death and leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injuries.

According to reports, Corchado has a history of arrests, including:

  • A felony charge of cocaine trafficking resulting in a three year prison sentence.
  • Felony possession of marijuana.
  • Misdemeanor charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving damage

Anyone with information on Corchado’s location are advised not to approach him and should contact police immediately.
