Child Survives Three Story Fall from Window
Details of the Near Fatal Accident
While she was cooking, the mother went to open a window to air out the smoke and proceeded into a different room in the apartment only to walk back out to see her child push the screen and climb out of the window. Fortunately, he wasn't seriously injured.
Authorities responded to the scene of the accident on the 300 block of N. Murray Boulevard in Colorado Springs. They found that the boy was fortunate enough to land in a patch of ditch.
Child Window-Fall Prevention
The following precautions should be considered when supervising children:
- Install window guards while the children are young, especially if they are toddlers
- Windows should not be opened more than four inches.
- Moving furniture away from windows to prevent children from using it to climb out of windows.
- Don't underestimate your child's ability to climb through a window.
