Child, Woman Dead After Two-Vehicle Collision in Phoenix

Jonathan Hernandez8 months ago

FOX 10 News is reporting that a 3-year-old child and the driver of a car died in a two-car crash in Phoenix on Monday night.

Details about the Fatal Accident Involving the Young Child

According to the Phoenix Police Department, the 3-year-old girl was a passenger in a Honda Civic that was being driven by 24-year-old Karimahi Overstreet. The Civic was heading east on Baseline Road when it hit a curb, drove on the sidewalk, and then drifted into the westbound lanes of Baseline.

In the westbound lanes, the Civic then hit a Buick Enclave head-on. The driver, Overstreet, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident last night, but the 3-year-old died at the hospital on Tuesday morning.

The driver of the Buick remains in serious condition and, at this time, will not face any charges.

At this point in the investigation, police say it is unclear what caused Overstreet to hit the curb and go into the westbound lanes, and that the rest of the investigation is being turned over to the medical examiner.
