Details of the Chrysler Minivan Recall
According to Chrysler, the power window switches can overheat or catch fire if they come into contact with moisture from spilled beverages, rain, and other sources. The company has acknowledged 36 incidents associated with the switches, including some instances of fires contained within the vehicles’ door. In lieu of potential safety concerns, drivers can begin taking their vehicle to dealers on May 15 to have the switches deactivated.
Description of the Recalled Minivans
- The recall affects model year 2010 through 2014 Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans.
- The vehicles were manufactured between Aug 25, 2010 and Oct 31, 2013.
- Approximately 644,850 of the vehicles are in the United States, 106,980 in Canada, 8,009 in Mexico, and 20,638 in other foreign countries.
- The vehicle only affects vehicles with power window vents for the third row of seats.
