Colorado Man Dies in Skydiving Accident

A man from Colorado has died in Arizona after his parachute malfunctioned during a skydiving accident.

Details about the Skydiving Accident

Eloy police, fire, and emergency crews responded to reports of a skydiver suffering from injuries after a hard landing at around 1:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon. The accident happened at The Eloy Municipal Airport at Skydive Arizona which is about 60 miles south of Phoenix.

According to ABC15 News, police say that 34-year-old Geoffrey Loy of Boulder, Colorado died at the scene. Witnesses say that they saw Loy’s parachute collapse during his jump, which caused his rapid descent toward the ground.

An eyewitness of the accident, Roderick Ozanne says that the victim died at the scene.

The victim reportedly had plenty of experience skydiving, with at least 12 years and 500 jumps.

Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration were sent to the scene to investigate the accident.
